Advancing the Sign Industry at the State and Local Level
We Work for You - Both at the State and at the Local Level
We represent you and other members of the sign industry through legislative efforts at the municipal and state levels. We monitor the public sector, serve on key committees, advocate for helpful legislation, and fight against burdensome regulations. We understand your challenges and work to help reduce them, while promoting our industry’s most important causes.
In other words, we help wherever we can at the governmental level.
Proud of our Active Participation in the Legislative Process
The CSA is an active participant and passionate advocate in the legislative process that leads to fair, effective and enforceable ordinances and statutes that affect our industry and our customers.
The CSA Legislative Team
The CSA legislative team is responsible for overseeing the changes taking place in local municipal sign codes by becoming involved throughout the sign code revision processes. Through this team, we can make vital contributions to the various regulatory bodies at the state and local level. A critical member of the CSA legislative team is the International Sign Association represented by James Carpentier, AICP, the Director of State & Local Government Affairs. James’ work is supported by ISA’s advocacy team and the research assets of the Sign Research Foundation.
The CSA's legislative team representatives meet with staff and any consultants at the outset and attend subsequent meetings where development of the code takes place. Providing input during draft development is extremely important to the outcome of the final document.
Giving Your Business a Voice
Being present at public workshops and hearings before local appointed and elected officials is an important element in the adoption of a new ordinance, as this keeps the issues and consequences in front of the governing body for consideration.
Throughout the process of code rewrites, the association continually asks these three important questions: Is it fair to all concerned? Is it equitable? Is it enforceable? The association strives to ensure that the codes under which we must operate to provide the best service and products to our customers meet these basic criteria.
With the support of a watchful and involved membership, the future of the industry will remain strong within our state and region.
